Since 1979, SSI has been recruiting and placing the best medical professional nationwide.   What areas of the country do you specialize in?   We place nurses throughout the continental U.S. and have offices that cover regions: West Coast, Midwest, East Coast, Southeast and a Travel Division.   What is the difference between a Per Diem and Travel Assignment?   Per Diem is daily local assignment or long assignment up to 8 weeks. Travel assignements are usually 13 weeks or more.   What is the average length of travel assignments?   Lengths may vary from one month to a year, but our typical travel assignment is for 13 weeks.   Is it possible to stay longer than the initial assignment?   Yes that often occurs, when you are on assignment you can contact your local office and they will make the necessary arrangements.   How can I be sure that there will always be assignments available?   Because of our specialization nationwide and recognized status as well as the nursing shortage all qualified professional staff find a position. For specific requests for assignments your personal aplacment coordinator will do the utmost to meet your needs.   What happens if SSI Medical does not currently have a request for the type of   position I’m looking for?   Your profile remains in our system and we receive daily requests for nurses and will review your file every day against open requisitions. Assignments can be immediately available or depending on location may have to be researched. This can be a one day process or as long as three weeks.   How much money can I make?   Standard workweek is usually 40 hours and our salaries are traditionally the best.   How quickly can you locate a position for me?       How many hours make up a standard workweek?   Standard workweek is usually 40 hours and our salaries are traditionally the best.   What happens when my assignment is completed?   Upon completion we hope you will take another position with SSI. We will be contacting you approximately 30 days prior to the end of your assignment.   What benefits will I receive while working with SSI?   The healthcare package depends upon your area of the country. SSI works with Regents Blue Shield and Kaiser Permanente.   What about licensing and continuing education?   Licensing and CE is the responsibility of the employee although we make arrangements with the client facilities.     When and how am I paid?   Payroll checks are issued weekly by check. Direct deposit is available.   Are taxes taken out of my check?   Yes. As you are an employee of SSI, we handle your withholding taxes and will send you a W2 at the end of the year.   Does SSI offer vacation benefits?   Vacation benefits are not offered although an end of assignment bonus can be issued.   What about overtime and/or call shifts?   If you would like to work overtime and/or call shifts you will specify this as a preference in your profile and our staffing professionals will locate those positions for you.   Is there a referral bonus program?   Yes!
